The Marlo Building was built in 1915 and is a unique
piece of Washington, DC architecture. The 30,000 square
feet building was occupied by Marlo Furniture from 1963
until 1999. The site is currently being renovated for
mixed retail and office use and is located one block
from the new Washington Convention Center. The Washington
DC Convention and Tourism Office is the first tenant
to enter into a lease agreement for office space in
this building, followed by Anderson Pitts.
The new design for the building has added an office
lobby and a new elevator, to bring the building to a
total of 46,000 square feet. The extended side of the
building allows large windows to bring more daylight
into the office space. Douglas Development has brought
the building into full IBC conformance and ADA compliance.
The redevelopment of this property has paid particular
attention to historical preservation of the facade and
canopy.
